With Chuck Almarez at Fire and Light Gallery, 509 E. Ridgeway Street, Clifton Forge
This 4-week course will introduce students to image editing techniques using Adobe Photoshop Elements software to correct, enhance and manipulate images. Since this course is based on the digital camera, students should be computer literate and be able to open, save, close a file, use a mouse, etc.
Digital image editing is the equivalent of processing and printing in the classic photographic darkroom. The techniques learned in this course will enable students to correct most image problems encountered during exposure. In addition, students will also learn techniques used to enhance an image, for example, intensifying color, changing a color, or even converting a color image to a black & white or toned image. At the end of this course students should be familiar with basic image corrections, enhancement, methods for selecting image elements, how to add text to images, create composite images, how to prep images for printing/matting, understand the tools used in PS Element, and a basic understanding of layers, masks, and modes.
