Barn quilts are a beautiful way to accessorize either the interior or exterior of your home. In this two-weekend class, artist Andrea Curry will show you how to make a 24” square barn quilt with colors that complement your decor. Graduates of Andrea’s Beginner class may register for the Advanced class, where they will take their skills and techniques to the next level. Advanced students wishing to make a 12” or 48” barn quilt must contact the School of the Arts at least two weeks prior to the class to arrange for that size board. The cost of a 48” square board is four times that of the 24” and there will be an additional materials charge due to the instructor at the first class.
Students for both the Beginner and Advanced classes must bring an apron or wear clothing suitable for painting, a hair dryer, and up to six colors of interior/exterior latex paint (BEHR sample sizes of interior/exterior Premium Plus Ultra or Marquee from Home Depot are required; do not buy Valspar.) Please contact the School of the Arts if you have any question about your paint needs or these classes. The Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce hopes to establish a Barn Quilt Trail in our region and we look forward to helping your become part of it!
